A study released by the World Bank, on Wednesday (4) shows the population of Latin America and the Caribbean are living on average 50% more than 40 years ago.

The mortality rate reached 80% drop among children aged less than 4 years and 50% among women 20-44 years.

The report details preventable risk factors that lead to premature death as not eating enough fruits and grains and excessive salt intake. According to the survey, improve the diet of Latin Americans could reduce heart disease, strokes, diabetes and cancers of the rectum and colon.
