Para renews air fleet streamlining rescue operations inside

The aircraft fleet of Air Grouping of Public Safety (Graesp) will be renewed by the state government, with the acquisition of four units by 2014. The goal is to increase support for preventive force, of the organs that make up the System of Public Security of Pará, streamlining operations, rescue and recovery of patients inside.

Currently, Graesp has six helicopters and a plane to meet all the demands of the state. Of this total, four helicopters are rented by two State Department of Public Safety and Social Defense (Segup), one by the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), in partnership with the Fire Brigade of Pará, and another company by North Energia, the consortium responsible for the construction of the Belo Monte Dam.

What we are doing is replacing the leased aircraft by aircraft themselves. The state government bought three medium helicopters, model AS 350 B2 Squirrel, and a bi-turbine model EC 145, with improved crew to transport troops and mobile ICU. We have already received the first, which is in the process of transferring ownership to the State. The model EC 145 aircraft will be delivered in November this year, and the other two are scheduled for delivery in May 2014, tells the Graesp commander, Colonel Josilei Gonçalves.

He points out that, later this month, will be held the bid for the purchase of another aircraft for the transport of troops, with delivery scheduled for December 2013.

The investment of approximately U.S. $ 80 million, will assist the demands of public health and safety throughout the state, says Colonel Gonçalves. It is both to meet the demands of public safety, as radiopatrulhamento air support for search and capture of fugitives elements of prison and police reports, as the rescue and removal of victims of serious accidents, women in labor, transportation for seniors and people requiring special treatment inside the capital.
