The Pampa Safari park, located in the town of Gravesend (RS), was closed by the Department of Agriculture and Technical IBAMA after confirmation of deaths of animals by tuberculose bovina.

The disease is extremely contagious and can be transmitted to humans by contact with infected animals.

Contamination of the park, which has more than two thousand animals of 40 species, was confirmed by reports issued by the laboratory of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Ufrgs).

Among the animals that died there copies of capybaras, camels, deer and llamas. Aiming to prevent the spread of the disease, the servers of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Agribusiness banned the transit of animals, while the Ibama banned public access.

The bans are indefinite and should only be withdrawn when away from the risk of contamination.
