Santa Maria hires healthcare professionals to help victims of tragedy

The death toll increases every hour and can reach more than 200. According to unconfirmed information, the majority of deaths were caused by suffocation and the fire would have started a fireworks show performed by the band that inspired the night.

According to the state secretary, Airton Michels, a task force of General Skills Institute was set up to accelerate the work of identifying bodies and investigation into the causes of the tragedy. Likewise, the Brigade Military and civilian police work in isolation and safety site. "We must act quickly to mitigate the consequences," said Michels.

The whole structure of the state Department of Public Safety has been made available for the work to support victims. The governor decreed official mourning Genro in the state and ordered all aircraft of the police stay on hand to transport the wounded.

Besides the governor Genro, who is in town from 9 o'clock in the morning, President Dilma Rousseff offered full support of the Federal Government and is heading for the city which has about 270 000 inhabitants.
