Participants celebrate the result of the action "Hug", held on World AIDS Day in 2012 in Belo Horizonte

The State Department of Health of Minas Gerais (MG-SES), through the Coordination of STDs / AIDS held, Assembly Square, in the center-south region of Belo Horizonte, the action of the Embrace. More than 100 volunteers Plug Mines (Training and Experimentation Center Digital) circulated by the central area of the capital and also the square asking for hugs to passersby. The volunteers were dressed in shirts with the following descriptions: I have AIDS, give me a hug? , I do not have AIDS, give me a hug? , I do not know if I have AIDS, give me a hug?

The initiative aimed to dispel prejudice and encourage the achievement of rapid tests for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Syphilis. After the action was recorded over three thousand hugs. Rackel Santos, voluntary Plug Mines approved the action, I found really cool part. Today, I managed to realize that people are still prejudiced. He was wearing a shirt with the phrase that stated that I had AIDS and noticed that some people pretended they were not watching me. People need to be aware about the disease and ways of contagion, the teenager said.

Also installed was a structure where people could do rapid tests for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Syphilis. Additionally, characters paraded through the square dressed in full of condoms, offering them to people and handing out leaflets. Members of the Group Vhiver, NGO that aims to provide quality of life for seropositive, were also present and ministered informative talk. We discussed topics such as myths and truths about AIDS, prejudice, prevention and the importance of testing.

In addition to volunteers, dozens of people attended the Assembly Square to support the campaign to combat AIDS. Cecilia Bahia one of the people who attended the event supported the initiative, I find it very important that the information is brought to the greatest possible number of people, he added.

Eu tenho o vírus HIV! Não cacho que tenho AIDS!! A palavra ?AIDS?
