Study shows that exercise intensity is more important in reducing the risk of stroke

Brisk walking can reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke by half. That's what researchers reveal the Bispebjerg University Hospital, Sweden.

The results suggest that the intensity and duration of exercise not counting. The survey found that walking at a fast pace reduced the risk factors for stroke and heart disease by 50%, while the race reduced by 40%.

The team, led by Adam Hoegsbro Laursen, examined the health of more than 10,000 Danish men and women between the ages of 21 and 98 years, who were monitored for 10 years.

The researchers measured activity levels of the participants and compared the effects of race, walk fast and physical inactivity on markers of heart health.

The results showed that brisk walking provided greater protective effect than race.

"This study shows us that only those physical activities that leave us with a feeling of warmth or makes us breathe more heavily than are good for our health. Run or walk quickly makes the heart beat faster and exercises the heart muscle. All of us must try to do every day activities that induce blood pumping, "says Maureen Talbot, the British Heart Foundation, UK.
