The New Family Guide, working tool of municipal teams, visitors and families served by Early Childhood Program Best (PIM), to be distributed begins from Sept. 10 in the 254 municipalities where the program is implemented. The Family Guide is part of the collection "Guides PIM", formed by the Pregnancy Guide, Guide to Pregnancy and Visitor Orientation Guide for Municipal Technical Groups, Monitors and Visitors.

With a circulation of 12 000 copies, the publication also highlights aspects of nutrition and health. Moreover, it presents the tables of indicators, by age group, as they enable the viability of Ground Zero recorded when the child enters the PIM and then for monitoring child development gains. The guide also brings revised content and information regarding child development focusing mainly on the size motor, language, cognitive and socio-affective, and guidance on activities for ages. D

The revision of the contents was drafted by a working group composed of professionals in psychology, pedagogy, sociology, speech pathology, pediatrics, nursing and social work that compose the State Technical Group PIM. Also contributing to this review, Professional Section of Child and Adolescent Section of Food and Nutrition Policy, Strategy and Family Health Section of Aging Health, Department of Health Actions-DAS.

As reported by the State Department of Health, these materials are also going through a review process and in them are highlighted periods of pregnancy, teenage pregnancy, oral health, common changes during pregnancy, and breastfeeding, prenatal, childbirth, puerperium , rights of pregnant women, sex and more. The PIM as State Policy on Promotion and Early Childhood Development, was established by State Law 12.544/06 to be implemented by the State Government in partnership with municipalities and social organizations. Aims at the holistic development of children from pregnancy until the age of six through the guidance of families and taking into account their culture and experiences.
