RS has served 43,000 children victims of accidents with toxic

The Rio Grande do Sul has recorded 43,000 visits from children under 10 years for poisoning between 2005 and 2011. The public is most vulnerable to this type of occurrence, accounting for 32% of all service performed by the Toxicology Information Center of the State (CIT / RS). Next Monday (20), is remembered Day State Accident Prevention Toxics, and thinking about CIT alert the population about the risks of poisoning when handling or contact with materials, animals and everyday objects.

Most of the accidents are the result of accidental ingestion or contact with drugs, cleaning products, insecticides, rodenticides, poisonous plants and poisonous animals. Most occurrences happens I go home and easy access to products, which are within the reach of children and, apparently, no risk.

The Center appeals to the population to make homes safe places for children. The central concern is with the actions of child safety in the home environment for the age group below 10 years, focusing on education, including adult, about the dangers of the use and exposure to toxic chemicals.
