The Management of Sanitary Dermatology of Rio de Janeiro and the Brazilian Society of Dermatology (SBD) are promoting the Campaigns Municipal Decentralization Program for Leprosy Control. According to informed the secretariat, the goal is to achieve early diagnosis of leprosy in an increasing number of municipalities.

The campaign consists of theoretical and practical training of local medical teams for early diagnosis and treatment of the disease in health facilities close to homes of patients.

Leprosy cases identified during the campaign will receive immediate attention and will be reported and monitored in the region of your area. Only the more complex cases will be referred for local references and / or state.

The following actions will be on Wednesday (15), at the Post Family Health Pillar I and II (Rua Carlos Alvear s / n), in Duque de Caxias, and on 20/08, the PSF Heliopolis in Piazza Caio Viana Martins s / n º, in Belford Roxo.

<b> Effort surgery </ b>

During the 6th and August 10th was held the 3rd seminar of Preventive Surgery and Repairers in leprosy, at the University Hospital Clementino Fraga Filho. The campaign for preventive surgery and rehabilitation of leprosy patients also functioned as practical training for teams of professionals. Leprosy is a silent disease that often manifests itself with symptoms less valued by patients and can cause deformity and disability if not treated early.
