The UN wants to declare war on non-communicable diseases such as cancer, diabetes, hypertension and mental problems, and it will be held next week in New York, United States, a high-level meeting to create a new work schedule and combat these disorders.

The WHO expert noted that the estimate is that over the next ten years, cardiovascular mortality increases by 17%, mainly in Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. In 2008, he said, non-communicable diseases killed 36 million people, with 90% of these deaths occurred in less developed countries.

The Alwan is expected that the meeting will serve to establish that the Governments commitments related to the surveillance and monitoring of diseases, reduction of risk factors such as tobacco and alcohol, unhealthy diets and lack of exercise.
