The Federal Council of Medicine (CFM) is warning about websites that request data from medical professionals with a discourse of recovery and social mobilization of the class. The organization commends the professionals are at risk in their data and provide information on sites and social networks without a thorough verification of their purpose and responsibility.

Websites have complained to the Council areas of advertising and false claims of trade information for financial gain. According to the coordinator of the Department of Informatics of the CFM, Goethe Ramos, some entries are questionable at present that would have 364 000 registered, this being the total number of active physicians in the country. With this subterfuge to induce doctors to provide misleading information to a source not built that can use it for purposes unknown, Ramos pointed out.

The doctor still needs to be aware of Article 111 of the Code of Medical Ethics which forbids the doctor to allow his participation in the dissemination of medical affairs, in any medium of mass communication, let alone to have character education and enlightenment of society. The breach of the rules may lead the physician to respond to ethical and professional procedures, alert the 1st secretary of the CFM, Desiré Callegari.

As a security tool for the physician and society, CFM provides on its official website Portal Medical doctor's name, as well as the registration number in the CRM, the home state and specialty. The Regional Council of Medicine of Rio de Janeiro (CREMERJ) also publishes a photo of the professional as an additional safety mechanism to protect doctors from fakes.

The Federal Council also says it will not be held responsible for information disseminated by third parties.
