On the first day of new term mayor of Rio launches Biometric

Device monitors lack of staff shifts in hospitals. Control system seeks to increase spending in the city

Taking possession on Tuesday (1) for the second term as mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes announced a set of proposals for the new management, which include, among others, the implementation of Biometric for doctors in the municipal ( identification by fingerprint). The measures were published in the form of 40 decrees in Diário Oficial edition of the Municipality.

The installation of the system, according to the city government, seeks to increase the transparency and control spending in town.

The Biometric helps monitor the lack of staff shifts in hospitals and Emergency Care Units (PSUs) of the state. Implemented in 2009, currently 23 PSUs and 10 hospitals have the equipment.

Data from the Department of Health show that the measurement has been reducing the number of absences on shifts physicians and improving transparency for the population, which can charge the Department of Professional and also its presence in healthcare facilities.
