Rio deploys MRI which makes heart and breast exams

Equipment has been installed and tested. Service begins to be available to meet SUS patients this month

The Center for Diagnostic Imaging of the State Government Rio de Janeiro - Rio Image has just released a new MRI machine for public patients. The equipment performs cardiac and breast MRI and is the first and only device of its kind in public. The State Department of Health has invested £ 2.8 million in new resonance.

Starting this month, the population of Rio already has the new equipment with the capacity to perform about 40 tests and 150 resonances heart breast per month in Rio Image.

"So we will double the capacity to meet the demand for MRI," said the Secretary of State for Health, Sergio Cortes.

Since its opening, the Rio Image already has a resonance, which alone held more than 17 thousand tests. In addition to the equipment that meets the Adam Pereira Nunes state hospital in Duque de Caxias, and MRI Mobile that runs inland, the state health network now has four fixtures to meet people from all over Rio de Janeiro.

Besides the new mammography, from 2013 Rio gets the picture and a third MRI PETScan, equipment unprecedented in public health. Together, the new equipment will over 8000 tests per month. The new room will have an MRI humanized structure to give a feeling of well-being to the patient: River landscapes with photographs on the walls and the ceiling, LED lights simulating a starry sky.
