Funasa conducts survey on community environmental maroon MG

The community quilombola Gorutuba in the extreme north of Minas Gerais, receives this week's team of the Environmental Health Education State Superintendent of Funasa in Minas Gerais (Suest / MG). In partnership with the City of Porteirinha and Father Peter, professionals are realizing the environmental community diagnosis, which involves the municipalities of Father Peter JaĆ­ba, Porteirinha, Catuti and frangipani.

The objective is to assess the needs in relation to drinking water, restrooms, disposal of waste solids and other needs to be articulated partnerships with agencies, government institutions and the community so that, together, seek viable and sustainable solutions.

People have visited the localities and Gorgulho Dam, in the county of Porteirinha and Taperinha - Father Pedro. The action is part of the project Water for All / Brazil Without Misery.

The region was recognized by Goturuba dos Palmares Cultural Foundation on March 1, 2004 and published in Official Gazette No. 43 of 4 March 2004, as the remaining Quilombo communities.
